Calling all local birders! Ornithologist Dr. Andy Mack will present a birding talk on “Fall Migration” at the Bellbrook headquarters of the St. Xavier Nature Preserve. This evening lecture will be followed on Saturday, September 28, by a guided bird walk from 7:00 to 10:00 AM through the fields and forests of St. Xavier. This is the third of four “Birds Across the Seasons” paired events presented by Dr. Mack. All events are open to the public and free to attend.

Introducing the Westmoreland Land Trust’s Family Fun Day! Join us for some family fun while exploring nature with lawn games, a scavenger hunt for kids, and crafts for all ages! You can also explore the area with a family-friendly self-guided hike! This event will be on Sunday, April 13th, from 1-3pm at the St. Xavier Nature Preserve on 106 Saint Xavier’s Rd, Latrobe, PA 15650. It will be a fun experience for the whole family! This guided walk will also include the interior of Bellbrook, the academy’s Civil-War era guest house. The walk will be slow-paced, but will involve some gentle slopes and uneven walkways. Please wear good walking shoes.
Join us for World Migratory Bird Day at St. Xavier Nature Preserve. The century-old trees of the Grove are a good place to see many of our native birds as well as the occasional spring migrant. This guided walk will be slow-paced and level, and birders of all abilities are welcome to join us. Please bring your own binoculars and dress for the weather.

Join us on a Bug Safari!
We’ll find, examine and collect bugs, then use microscopes and field guides to identify species, before releasing them back into nature. Conduct Roly-Poly races, play bug-themed games, sing buggy songs, and Build-a-Bug of your very own.
Where: St. Xavier Nature Preserve 106 Saint Xavier Road, Latrobe, PA. Meet at Bellbrook House.
Cost per Session: $10 first child, $5 each additional sibling, no charge for children three years and under. The content and activities are geared toward children 5-12 years old, but younger and older siblings are welcome to attend.
What to Bring: Wear close-toed shoes and dress appropriately for weather. Hats, sunscreen, and bug spray are recommended. Bring a blanket and a lunch and stay for a picnic in The Grove after the program! We’ll provide lemonade and snacks.
