We’re excited to invite St. Xavier alumni, friends, former students and families, and the greater community to join us for a special screening of the St. Xavier documentary, “Lives Shaped by Mercy: The St. Xavier Story” on October 15 at 1:00 PM at St. Xavier Nature Preserve. When Westmoreland Land Trust became the steward of St. Xavier, we knew we were protecting much more than its forests, fields, and natural beauty. We were also entrusted with a place that holds generations of memories and an important piece of Westmoreland County history.
As part of our St. Xavier History Project, stories and memories connected to the former St. Xavier Academy and the Sisters of Mercy were collected and preserved through an oral-history documentary. The result is a 45 minute film that helps ensure the people, experiences, and history that shaped this special place are not lost as St. Xavier begins its next chapter as a permanently protected nature preserve. Refreshments will be provided, and discussion will follow the viewing. An historic tour of the property will be provided for those who would like.
